John has over 16 years of experience in energy and spiritual healing. Having discovered a natural gift for healing, John began his practice in college before he had any formal training. John's official studies in healing began in 1995 after reading about a tribe of Peruvian natives using the same healing techniques he had stumbled upon in his own work. He traveled to Peru to train in this Andean tradition of healing and spiritual development, earning initiation into an ancient indigenous clergy. The following year, John backpacked into remote parts of Oaxaca, Mexico to study Aztec forms of spiritual healing.

  In 1997, wanting to professionalize his practice in the United States, John met Dr. Robert Jaffe, M.D., a renowned medical intuitive who ran a successful holistic medical practice and Energy Healing academy on the West coast. John began a long period of close study with Dr. Jaffe, graduating from his school, adding three years of post-graduate study, and becoming a teacher of the work. In addition, John worked with Dr. Jaffe nearly daily for 5 years on his property in Northern California, and continues to apprentice with him. John and Dr. Jaffe recently taught a weekend workshop together on the higher levels of spiritual realization as they relate to healing.

  In the late 1990's, John simultaneously attended a 2-year program in the ancient art of Sufi healing. It was during that time that he met Sufi grandmaster and healer "Sidi" al-Jamal of Jerusalem. Al-Jamal, a multi-generational master herbalist and a scholar of ancient healing texts has helped illuminate John's understanding of the human spiritual system, its potential, and its role in healing mental and physical issues. He also taught John prophetic methods of physical and spiritual healing dating back thousands of years. John has been studying with "Sidi" for 14 years and is now one of his senior representatives in the U.S.

  Since 1998, John has continued to study with other medical intuitives, as well as with leading psychologists and counselors who understand the holistic/spiritual model. In the year 2000, John opened a healing practice in Napa Valley, California, where he practiced for two years. Between 2002 and 2004, John studied pre-medical studies and comparative religion at the University of Iowa. In 2004, he moved to Austin to complete a degree at the University of Texas. For 7 years, John worked at the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism in California, where he taught energy healing and spiritual development to hundreds of students from all across the country, including doctors, acupuncturists, scientists, musicians, and psychologists. His experience at the University, and his travels and training, have prepared him to work with a diverse clientele and a wide variety of needs.

  While in Austin, John has attended numerous workshops and ongoing trainings in psychology and counseling, with a focus on affect regulation, attachment theory, emotional communication and interpersonal neurobiology. John has a Masters in Counseling with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Edward's University in Austin, however he does not practice as a licensed therapist. John is currently in his third year of training with renowned couples therapist and researcher Dr. Stan Tatkin of the UCLA School of Medicine, author of Love and War in Intimate Relationships (Norton, 2011). John continues to teach and work with clients nationally. He has taught classes for other energy healers on advanced aspects of practice and clinical issues. He will occasionally offer local classes on healing and spiritual growth as time allows. His private practice is focused on helping individuals and couples reach their highest potential, and lovingly work out the kinks to promote a deep and fulfilling experience of life.
